Camping is as much a Maine tradition as lobster is.

Maine is a big state with so much wilderness to choose from. Whether you are into hiking, water sports, lakes, or oceans, it's why we are called "Vacationland". Because we have it all. Part of having it all is packing it all up and living in nature at a campground. Most Mainers have the most amazing memories of growing up and going camping.

What are you looking for when camping in Maine?

If you are looking for a down-and-dirty nature experience, Maine's got that. If you want to bring the kids and make sure there are plenty of activities for them, there are plenty of campgrounds with activities for the little ones!

If you've got a big camper or an RV, some campgrounds around Maine offer water and electricity. Others offer a picnic table, a tiny grilling area, and a common area to use the bathrooms and freshen up. It just depends on what you want out of the experience.

For me, it's the sky. When you can get away from the town and city lights and look up and see a falling star, that's the best. It's time to just breathe and be grateful that we get to call Maine home. Then you can worry about all the stuff you have to do and all those hundreds of responsibilities. But for now, which campground is your favorite place to get away?
