Watch ‘Harry Potter’ While Portland Symphony Orchestra Performs the Music
There aren't many movie franchises over the years that have rivaled Star Wars' success, but the Harry Potter franchise comes close, with 11 movies between the original Harry Potter films and the Fantastic Beasts films.
If you're a fan, you've probably seen them all, but have you ever seen a Harry Potter movie with a live orchestra performing the music? Here's your chance. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone will be playing at Portland, Maine's Merrill Auditorium, but in a way many have never experienced.
The film will be shown in high definition on a screen above the stage at Merrill. On the stage beneath the screen, the Portland Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Eckart Preu, will perform the iconic score of the film written by John Williams.
I saw The Magic of Christmas performed by the Portland Symphony Orchestra this year, and it was amazing. There's nothing that compares to hearing a live orchestra perform in a venue as great as Merill Auditorium. I can only imagine how great it will be to hear the score of Harry Potter performed live.
Shows are at Merrill Auditorium in Portland on Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 2, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. You should get your tickets sooner rather than later, as this is going to be a popular show.
Tickets are available in person at the Port Tix box office at Merrill Auditorium. You can also order your tickets online and have them digitally delivered to your smartphone by going to porttix.com.
