Are We Still Leaving Massive Tips for Maine, New Hampshire, Waitstaff?
Shut Down 2020
It's wild to believe that at one point in our lives, we were all restricted to stay at home. Working from home became a common term, some people either fully switched their careers or got a moonlighting gig as an Instacart driver since so many people were using the service to food shop without leaving their homes.
And local restaurant owners and staff were calling massive audibles to not only continue serving their loyal customers, but stay in business in general.
While in the beginning of the world shutting down, dining inside of your favorite restaurant wasn't possible, curbside pickup became an amazing alternative. Eventually, with restrictions, in-house dining came back, and something came with it.
Restaurant Tips 2020
The generosity seen when restaurants were able to serve customers again toward the end of 2020 was absolutely second-to-none.
On a consistent basis, employees of restaurants almost on the daily posted pictures of restaurant tabs left for them with an insane amount of money left as a tip (like a nearly 800% tip once left at a Windham, New Hampshire, restaurant), or even showing off a wad of cash left as a tip.
In fact, some local influencers, like Maine's Meredith Steele (who you know better as babiesofsteele on social media), collected donations through Venmo and would visit multiple local restaurants and use the money collected to leave her waiter or waitress as massive tip.
Throughout 2021, although maybe not at as frequent of a clip as toward the end of 2020, there were still some massive tips seen being left throughout New England on social media, but that seems to have slowed down in more current times.
So, here's the question -- is this still happening, but the recipients of those massive tips are just being more quiet and personal about it, or are those days long behind us?
