Here Are 5 of the Best Places to Watch the Solar Eclipse in Maine
This upcoming solar eclipse of 2024 has taken over the internet like it's Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce's relationship. Has anybody else felt super out of it lately? I try not to be an astrology girlie whose entire personality is based off of her zodiac sign, but Mercury's retrograde is starting to make me wonder if actually related. Anyways, let's talk about the fact that we may not have to travel from our home state to get the best views of this bad boy coming.
Both Maine and New Hampshire made CountryLiving 's list of Scenic Spots Across the U.S. to Experience the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse. But Maine's locations truly stand out over New Hampshire's. According to CountryLiving, here are Maine's top five spots to watch the sun do its thing.
1. Millinocket Lake
It overlooks the tallest mountain in the state, Mt. Katahdin, guaranteeing all sorts of views.
NECO is actually throwing some cool viewing parties on the lake, and you can check out more details here.
2. Houlton
Bordering Canada and New Brunswick, Houlton is sure to give you some good views. They've also got yet another viewing party of their own, which you can check out here.
3. Island Falls
How fun, here's yet another viewing party in Island Falls. Check this out.
4. Rangeley
This is a great name. "Shadow of the sun Fest" is happening up at Rangeley. Click here to learn more.
5. Presque Isle
I remember a couple years ago, when I was on a mini hike at Mt. Katahdin. By the time I got to the top, I saw everybody staring up at the sky. A dude actually handed me his glasses so I could check out what was going on, and it was an eclipse (a different type than what's coming next week). The moral of the story is that it was super cool to witness it, and I wasn't prepared. This is your sign to prepare for the viewing so you don't miss out on going somewhere cool to watch it!
