The Portland, Maine, Sea Dogs Become Cooked Lobsters for One Day
The Portland Sea Dogs will become the Maine Lobster Bakes for one day in August.
The Portland Sea Dogs do this every year. They take on the personality of something iconically Maine. They've been the Whoopie Pies, Red Snappers, Bean Suppahs, and on August 23 they'll become the Maine Lobster Bakes for one day only! There's one Sea Dog who's very excited about the one-day change.
Why are the Portland Sea Dogs becoming the Maine Lobster Bakes?
When the Portland Sea Dogs take to Hadlock Field on Friday, August 23, to face the Altoona Curve at 6 PM, they will be the Maine Lobster Bakes. Lobstering remains one of Maine's oldest and largest industries. Maine produces 90% of the country's lobsters, with over 100 million pounds harvested every year!

The Sea Dog's General Manager (and all-around good dude), Geoff Iacuessa, said in a press release:
Lobster is without a doubt Maine’s most iconic food item…when you think of lobster, you think of Maine. We wanted to create a theme night that honored Maine’s most famous delicacy and the Mainers who have dedicated their lives to this industry that is vital to our economy.
The team will wear new uniforms for this special game with various lobster-themed promotion fun. And if you just love the uniforms, you can grab hats and t-shirts at the souvenir store! Get your tickets today!
