Maine loves having pets. Everybody here has either a cat or a dog or some combination of both and it's hilarious but also insanely endearing.

There's just something about being a dog parent in Maine that other dog parents adore and it's the combination of mud, ticks and trails.

Going on hot girls walks, swimming in waterfalls or hiking trails with your pup is easily the beauty of having a good boy or girl here.

Let me break down the 3 biggest common denominators only true Maine dog mama's are going to understand.

Springtime Walking Trails Maine

Trails in the spring get muddy as the ground thaws getting ready for summer. People everywhere deal with this obviously, but a Maine dog owner won't even think twice before they strap on their Xtratuf's and head straight for that swamp.

Tick Season Maine

Ticks, again can be found many places, but it's the way a true Mainer handles them that sets us apart. We all live in the woods technically up here, right? Ticks are expected as a part of our daily routine and when we find one or 8 on our pets we just rip it off with our fingers without thinking twice.

Unwritten Leash Law Maine

I'm not saying dog parents here don't take responsibility for their pets and don't leash them when leashing is due. But, when they're on a trail I'm absolutely saying we tend to look the other way if another doggo isn't on a leash. We get it mama, your doggo needs his exercise too ;).

Overall, authentic Maine dog moms are badass.
