Costco Likely to Open Second New Hampshire Location
For more than 40 years, the Fox Run Mall in Newington, New Hampshire, has been a destination for shopping on the sea coast.
But just like so many other malls from coast to coast, the Fox Run Mall's lengthy run was clearly coming to an end.
Over the next 8 to 10 months, the Mall at Fox Run will be demolished. In its place, a new shopping destination will be built.
And if you believe some of the long simmering rumors, Seacoast Landing will mark the return of a warehouse store that people have been clamoring for.
Costco Appears to Be One of the Anchors For New Development in Newington, New Hampshire
For nearly a year, there have been rumors circulating on the internet that Costco would be returning to the seacoast.
According to Seacoast Online, the developers behind the new Seacoast Landing cannot confirm that Costco will be one of their major anchors to the new retail center in Newington.
What they did confirm is that a 'warehouse membership' store would be taking over more than 150,000 square feet. That would be about the same exact size as the only other Costco store in New Hampshire, located in Nashua.
Costco Seems Poised to Try Again Along New Hampshire's Seacoast
Believe it or not, there was already a Costco store in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
That original Costco closed in the 1996 due to low volume in membership and sales.
Things have changed drastically for the company over the last 30 years as Costco has become one of America's most popular retailers.
When Costco is likely confirmed for the Seacoast Landing, enthusiastic customers will still be in for a wait.
The Seacoast Landing is expected to take three years to build out.
