Longtime ‘Junkyard House’ in Greene, Maine, Will Finally Be Cleaned Up
For better or worse, there are some places in Maine that earn landmark status among residents simply because they stand out. They don't have to be statues or works of art, sometimes they're an eyesore that becomes too memorable to forget.
That has been the case for one specific property in Greene, Maine, over the past many years. It has essentially become a landmark for locals and passersby on Route 202. The 'junkyard house' just sits there as a collective madness of nonsensical signs and endless clutter.
But it won't be sitting there much longer.

The court's ruling in favor of the Town of Greene allows the town to take bids to remove any and all junk from the existing property at 1316 US Route 202. The building structure and vehicles on the property will remain. However, all other items that could reasonable be considered "junk" will be removed.
The town will take anything of value and put that towards the expense of the clean up.
