Jet Blue Announces Year-Round Direct Flights to Florida out of Portland, Maine
We're currently enjoying those picture perfect Maine summer days but as we all know, they will be gone sooner than we would like. For those of us looking to escape the frigid winter and head south over the winter, some good news has arrived. Starting October 28, JetBlue Airways will be offering direct flights from Portland to Orlando.
If you're like me, you've been stuck in layover disasters. As much as it's the perfect time to escape the winter, unpredictable weather happens, which causes delays and cancellations. Yes, you can save some money with layovers but there are risks that come with that.
According to WMTW, JetBlue's new service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, making it super convenient to plan a vacation or even just a long weekend. It's happening quick too, tickets will go on sale this Sunday, July 28.
JetBlue isn't the only airline flying direct to Orlando; they’re joining the likes of Breeze Airways, Frontier Airlines, and Southwest Airlines. But let's be real, JetBlue fans know that flying with them means comfy seats, good snacks, and that sweet free Wi-Fi.
Orlando is a hot destination for Mainers during the winter. According to WMTW, it made up nearly 20% of the Portland Jetport's passengers last winter. I mean trading cold temps and snow for theme parks and palm trees... kind of a no-brainer.
If you're up in Northern Maine, Jet Blue also recently announced that they will offer daily flights to and from Presque Isle International Airport as well.
