Here is a Look at Maine’s 20 Least Populated Towns

Full disclosure, when I travel, I typically go south. Sadly, I haven't spent enough time experiencing the beauty and history of our great state. However, times have been changing, as I have been able to enjoy more parts of Maine recently. But there's still a lot I need to see, including a list of towns that are very unique.

While researching the Census for a project, I came across countless Maine towns with populations of less than 200. It was incredibly fascinating to see. I'm not talking plantations and unincorporated areas, but actual incorporated towns. There are more people in line at the grocery store than live in these towns.

To put this tiny number into perspective, I'm a guy who grew up in Southern Maine. When I was a kid, I considered towns like Buxton and Standish small. Those towns are like New York City compared to these tiny communities.

I was obsessed by these towns, so I decided to put together a list of the 20 least populated in Maine. And now, it's a goal of mine to visit all of them. I learned a great deal from just putting the actual list together. These towns might be small in stature, but are big in history. And as we all know, size isn't everything.
