New Hampshire Governor Sununu Reveals 7 Favorite Places in the State
Who better to ask about New Hampshire than Governor Chris Sununu?
Governor Sununu has had the office in the State House for four terms. The only other governor who has done that was John Lynch, who served from 2005-2013. With all that knowledge of New Hampshire, who better than to ask about favorite spots in the state than him? Here are his responses.
Mount Washington Hotel, Bretton Woods, New Hampshire
Without hesitation, Governor Sununu said that the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods was his favorite place in the state. He said that he "has such a connection" to that place. Even though he admitted it was expensive, he encouraged everyone to go sit on the back porch and enjoy the majestic views, no matter if they could afford a stay there are not.
Jenness State Beach, Rye, New Hampshire
Admittedly, the Governor is not much of an ocean guy, but people ask him a lot where his favorite beach is. He said that if he had to pick, it would be Jenness Beach in Rye, New Hampshire. He lives here on the Seacoast, and likes the quiet of that beach rather than the busy vibe of Hampton.
Story Land, Glen, New Hampshire
The Governor said that they do a great job at Story Land. They are constantly trying to improve the park. He still loves to go, and says there's plenty to do for both kids and adults.
Jericho State Park, Berlin, New Hampshire
Governor Sununu loves the trails at this park. He said you can rent an ATV and drive it right up to the windmills. Jericho is one of the largest parks in the state, and the trail system is nationally-renowned.
Lago's Ice Cream, Rye, New Hampshire
Governor Sununu says that New Hampshire does ice cream better than anyone else, so there are many places that he would choose as his favorite for ice cream. But his top choice was Lago's Ice Cream in Rye, New Hampshire. Also, question: is it pronounced "LAY-goes" or "LAAAH-goes"? The Governor pronounced it the correct way.
Waterville Valley Resort
The Sununu family took ownership of this resort in 2010, according to saminfo.com, so this one had to make the list.
Salem, New Hampshire, also got an honorable mention. The Governor grew up in that town, but admits now that its downtown area is very commercial.
