Let's face it, social media can be a very toxic place. Lately we are seeing people use it as an outlet to express their political beliefs which in theory should be totally fine. Freedom of speech, right? But unfortunately people start insulting each other's character based on who they are going to vote for in November and it all gets real ugly real quick.

All to say that we welcome good news with open arms these days and Tiara Lee on Facebook understood the assignment.

She shared a story on the What the Hell is Going on in Newmarket Facebook Group and it hit us all square in the feels. She was driving through downtown Newmarket a few days ago and as she was coming down the hill by Crackskull's Coffee & Books she saw a woman with two mobility aides. The woman was walking quite slow so Tiara stopped well in advance to give her as much time as she needed.

It was then that she witnessed a kind hearted gentleman ask the woman if she needs help crossing the street. Next thing you know they were linked arm and arm and crossed the street together:

Tiara said that witnessing this act of kindness restored her faith in humanity. And I absolutely love what she said at the end of the post:

"When given the opportunity always be this guy. Always"

The woman who was helped came forward in the comments. Her name is Mary Ann La Fleur and she said:

"That person was me with a recent fractured foot! And the kindness continued….when I reach Crackskulls a kind gentleman come outside to help me up the stairs. Newmarket is such a wonderful place to live."

Amen to that, Mary Ann!
