I never had a bagel until I was in college.  It's hard to believe, but we were raised in a very Italian family and weren't introduced to bagels until we lived elsewhere.

My first bagel was truly love at first bite.

However, not all bagels are created equal, so when a question came up on the New Hampshire Eats Facebook Group about the best bagel shops in New Hampshire, I had to see how the votes tallied.

As I scrolled through all the comments, almost 30 bagel shops were mentioned, but which ones were the best of the best?  Where do most people in New Hampshire recommend for the perfect bagel?

Since bagels can be a subjective food (as any food can be), I dug a little deeper to find why the top bagel shops were so good.

Despite comments like, "go to New Jersey", or "the only good bagels are in New York", there were definitely some bagel bakeries mentioned more often than others. So, I made a list of the top 10 bagel shops in New Hampshire based on the Seacoast Eats group comments.

Some of the highlights include Big Dave's Bagels, where Dave Hausman has been in the customer service industry for 50 years. His first job was working for the "First Family of New York Bagels", Goldberg's Bagels, at just 14 years old.

But the real key to a great bagel shop is not just the best bagels, and kweenies (check out below for website explanation). It's also customer service and community service.  That is how Big Dave's Bagels excels as one of the best, and has been visited by Guy Fieri and featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

Also, the Bagel Café in Nashua, Bedford, and Manchester, stars bagel options like Plain, Everything, Sesame, Onion, French Toast, Jalapeño Cheddar, Spinach, Garlic, Poppy, Wheat, and Salt bagels.
