It's a habit that's hard to break.  Every time I'm in Portland, Maine, I go to the same breakfast/lunch spot for an unbelievable brunch.

If brunch is a treat for you too, you won't be surprised, especially if you live in Maine, about this brunch spot.

Food Network came out with a list of the top brunch spots in every state, and there's no question why this historic location in Old Port is not only attached to a top notch hotel, but is rated the #1 brunch place in all of Maine.

There's also no question as to why it's so good.

The Union Restaurant at the Press Hotel in downtown Portland, Maine has a distinctive menu.  The chef seeks out locally sourced seafood, grains, meats, and vegetable.

How far do they go to be local?  They have their own beehives on the rooftop of the building.

The seafood is purchased daily at the docks, and vegetables are locally grown by area farmers.   You can taste the freshness in every bite.

The Union Restaurant doesn't just serve brunch, they serve lunch and dinner also, and cater to the hotel guests as well.  As you can imagine, all of the food is fantastic at any part of the day or night.

Let's talk about the cocktails too.

Need a Bloody Mary?  The recipe for the Union's bloody mix is so fresh, you'll swear it's the best you've ever tasted.

Whether visiting, passing through, or a local, you'll agree with most Mainers, and the Food Network, the Union Restaurant at the Press Hotel is tops.
