All Aboard: Why the Café Lafayette Dinner Train Should Be Your Next NH Night Out
Alright… I just discovered something that immediately made me think, we need to plan a group night ASAP.
Have you heard about the Café Lafayette Dinner Train up in North Woodstock, New Hampshire? Because somehow this has existed for years… and I feel like I’ve been left out of a very cool secret.
This is exactly what it sounds like, but better. You’re on a restored vintage train, cruising through the White Mountains, while eating a full-on multi-course dinner. I’m talking legit, sit-down, nice dinner… on a train… moving through some of the prettiest scenery in the state.
And depending on when you go, the whole vibe changes. Fall? Peak foliage views. Winter? Snow-covered mountains and cozy, warm lighting inside the train cars. Summer? Windows open, fresh air, mountain views… it’s kind of a whole thing.
I started thinking about it and this feels like one of those experiences that’s way more fun with a group. Like, imagine grabbing a few couples, or a bunch of friends and just committing to a different kind of night out. No rushing. Just food, drinks, conversation… and the occasional “wait… look out the window.” Instagram worthy if you ask me.

It's about a 2 to 2.5 hour ride, which honestly sounds perfect. Long enough to relax, not so long that you’re checking your watch.
We all say we want to “do something fun” or “try something new,” and then we end up at the same three places on repeat.
This is not that.
I’m officially putting this out there: we need to pick a date, grab tickets, and make a night of it.
