Barstool’s Dave Portnoy Reviewed These 2 Massachusetts Pizza Places in August 2025

While Barstool's Dave Portnoy hit up nine Massachusetts pizza places in July, he wound up stopping in at two more for August.

The famous pizza reviewer, and also owner and founder of the popular media company, rated both Sweet Tomatoes Pizza in South Yarmouth and Jack's Restaurant & Bar in Falmouth.

That means he's done 16 Bay State restaurants and 23 total New England spots so far this year. And that's on top of the countless places he's been to in other states across the country.

Dave Portnoy Reviews Sweet Tomatoes Pizza in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts

According to its website, Sweet Tomatoes in South Yarmouth, and also its other location in Chatham, is a "casual pizza shop specializing in thin and crispy pizza, either by the slice or whole pizzas."

Portnot's visit to Sweet Tomatoes continued his journey of hitting up Cape Cod pizza spots, so, of course, that meant he also had a score for it using both his "Cape Scale" rating system and his regular ratings.

For the Cape Scale, he gave it a 10.2, while on the "real world" scale, he gave it a 7.3.

Overall, he really seemed to enjoy it, highlighting the good dynamics and vibes. He did note his slice was a little floppy, but he liked the sweet sauce.

He even noted that it's the type of pizza he would eat regularly.

Plus, if you're a fan of tomato chunks on top, this might be the spot for you.

Dave Portnoy Reviews Jack's Restaurant & Bar in Falmouth, Massachusetts

According to its website, Jack's Restaurant & Bar, which opened in 2013, offers up a "diverse menu of elevated pub-style food featuring award-winning pizza, burgers, seafood, pasta, steaks, and more."

This place was the last stop on his "Cape Cod Tour," and as soon as Portnoy opened the pizza box, he immediately commented that it looked like a "great bar pie."

He did say that he always scores bar pie really high, but seemed impressed and pleased as he was eating.

As for the score? He gave it a 7.9, reiterating it was very good and "lived up to the hype."

According to The Enterprise, Jack's has received numerous awards for its restaurant and food, and its owner noted the local favorite called the Jack’s Special, which has onions, mushrooms, peppers, sausage, and pepperoni.

Portnoy's reviews consist of reviewing cheese pizza, but it's good knowing there are multiple options you can get at this popular spot.
