Secret’s Out: This Unsuspecting Spot has the Best Donuts in New Hampshire
Every season can be donut season if you believe it to be true. But Fall and donuts go hand in hand like a witch and her broom, a ghost and the word "BOO!" You get the picture.
I have sampled many donuts here in New England; from farmstands, to Dunkin', to little mom and pop donut shops. The donut connoisseurs might disagree, but If you are willing to put aside your ego you might find the most unsuspecting of places has the best donut this side of the Piscataqua River.
On the Facebook Group New Hampshire Eats, a brave confident soul named Tracey posted a statement that was short, sweet, and to the point. She said:
"Market Basket has THE best donuts. There, I said it!"
BOLD statement, Tracey. We love a woman who knows what she likes!
The post got over 500 reactions and 285 comments. As I peeped the comments, I thought to myself "uh oh, I'm sure this woman is getting absolutely roasted". Guess what? I was wrong.
Sure, some people are giving her sass with the "you don't get out much" comments. But an overwhelming amount of people agree and are slightly miffed that Tracey leaked the secret.
Here is what I am learning about Market Basket donut culture:
- Market Basket's donuts are generally HUGE and really fair priced (just like everything else in the store)
- Their Maple donut is out of this world
- Their apple cider donuts are also a gift from above (someone said they are better than Common Man donuts which get a lot of hype. Their words, not mine)
- Put their apple cider donuts in the air fryer, you can thank me later
- MB's Jelly donut are some of the best the folks of NH Eats have ever had. They are described as soft, light, and filled with the most delectable raspberry jelly.
- If you want 'em you got to get there early otherwise you get NONE. They sell out quick when they're fresh!
- Glazed jelly filled is a rare MB donut but VERY sought after. The Leominster, Massachusetts, location has them.
- A woman said that Market Basket made all of the donuts at her WEDDING and they were a huge hit. So there's that!
Suddenly I feel like I have been missing out on the heavenly treat that is Market Basket donuts. WHERE HAVE I BEEN?!
Do you indulge in Market Basket's donuts? What is your opinion on them?
