UPDATE:  This report has been updated throughout with new information.

A security guard was killed and the suspect shot dead in the lobby of the main building of New Hampshire Hospital in Concord Friday afternoon.

State Police Col. Mark Hall said the gunman fired at one person as he entered the building the 184 bed state hospital on Clinton Street. A State Police trooper on duty shot and killed the gunman, and the shooting victim died after being transported to Concord Hospital.

All other patients and staff at the hospital are safe, according to Hall.

A UHaul truck in the parking lot has been determined not to be connected to the shooting.

The security guard was identified as Bradley Haas, 63, of Franklin. He was a police officer for 28 years and is the former Police Chief in Franklin.

The identity of the gunman has not been disclosed.

The hospital is open for services but closed for visitation, according to New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Lori Weaver.

Weaver said a hotline has been created for patients and staff looking for information about their loved ones at 603-271-3004.

Hall said the motive for the shooting and the identify of the gunman are still under investigation.

A police academy graduation was going on at the time of the shooting, which allowed for a large police presence at the hospital quickly.
