There are always so many amazing stories around the running of the Boston Marathon but this one has to do with one of our own-the great Joan Benoit Samuelson. This was the 40th anniversary of Joan winning the marathon-she did it as a Senior at Bowdoin in 1979. Her goal running it today was to be within 40 minutes of her time from 40 years ago. And she did it!  Our Maine legend ran it in 3 hours and 4 minutes...39 minutes longer than her run 40 years ago. WOW! Joan continues to be an inspiration to all of us and we are wicked proud of her accomplishment today. She even wore her Bowdoin shirt!

Keep on running Joanie and we will see you this summer at Beach to Beacon!
