The old saying it's not how you start but how you finish held true for the Boston Celtics Tuesday night in their 97-89 win over the New York Knicks.

While Boston did not have a terrible start to the game, it was their ability to put together a strong 4th quarter and get back in the win column following a loss in Orlando Sunday. The two teams stayed within a few points of each other throughout the game and exchanged leads several times before Boston put the Knicks away with solid team play.

Isaiah Thomas led the Celtics in scoring with 20 points and added a game high 8 assists. Jae Crowder and Tyler Zeller each scored 16 points with Zeller also pulling down 10 rebounds.

There is no time to rest for Boston who returns to the Garden tonight for a game against Detroit.

Unlike the Celtics the Boston Bruins did not finish strong and lose the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime. The Bruins looked strong and took a 3-1 lead less than 2 minutes into the third period however that's when it all fell apart.

Holding a lead in the third has been a problem and was on this night as well. The Leafs wee able to get the game tied on goals by Leo Komorav and Nazem Kadri. In overtime David Krejci took a holding penalty and the Leafs took advantage as Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau scored the game winner on the power play that gave Toronto the win.

Boston will head on the road for a Thursday game in Buffalo.
