Maine Animal Shelter Suffers Multi-Floor Flooding & Asking For Help
Kennebec Valley Humane Society
Kennebec Valley Humane Society (KVHS) discovered on a recent Friday morning that both levels of their facility on Pethaven Lane in Augusta had been met with a flooding disaster. The culprit? Faulty pipes.
This wasn't a minor leak, either. The basement was under 3 to 4 inches of standing water that was dripping from the ceiling
How are the Animals?
Thankfully, no animals were harmed in the incident. KVHS even notes that some even loved the change in environment and splashed around until staff arrived at the facility. Each animal was thoroughly checked before being moved to dry areas.
Moving Forward
KVHS has a long-term plan of building a new facility but in the meantime, they must maintain their current home. The team worked hard to get things back to normal and state that when all was said and done they still spent over $5,000 out of pocket to get things back to normal. They are asking the community to consider donating to get them back to moving forward. Donations can be made on their website here or easily on Facebook here:
