Maine Brewery Turns Beer Into Flavorful Dairy-Free Soft Serve Ice Cream
As the temperatures balloon in Maine and everyone gets that summer itch, people start lining up at ice cream shops across the state for a cool treat. Ice cream has become such big business in Maine, and competing shops are opening earlier and earlier every season. When you think of some delicious soft serve, one place that never crosses your mind is a brewery. Maine has got a ton of them and typically, you're visiting one of them for an ice cold beer. But one brewery in Portland wants to change your mind, and it just might work.
Shared on Instagram by Definitive Brewing, the brewery has been working behind the scenes on perfecting a recipe to take some of their most popular sour beers and transform them into non-dairy soft serve just in time for summer. After several experiments in their secret laboratory, Definitive believes they've perfected their craft and unveiled their soft serve beer flavors at their Portland location last month.
Definitive Brewing has embraced the ice cream lifestyle for some time now. Their flavorful "milkshake" IPAs have been a huge hit amongst both locals and tourists. Definitive has also introduced Beer Float Nights, where some of their favorite beers are paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, taking those Root Beer Floats you remember as a kid up a few notches.
The dairy-free double-fruited sour soft serve ice cream is available in a cup or a cone at the Portland location, with plans to offer it at the Kittery location soon.
