Maine Ranked One Of The Safest States In The Country
There's more than one reason it's called Vacationland. I mean sure, Maine in the summer is the best place to be, there's no denying that.
And now backgroundchecks.org has named Maine one of, if not THE safest state in the Nation.
The website looked at violent crime, property crime and number of law enforcement officers a community has along with Census data to determine their findings. They also used the latest FBI crime statistics to create state rankings. They excluded communities with fewer than 10,000 people. Then they broke it down city by city or town by town.
Wells topped the list with a reported crime rate less than half of the national average.
Scarborough came in second with an almost identical low reported crime rate which is still well below the national average.
