Maine Ranks High on List of Hippie States

Back in November Travel & Leisure named Portland, Maine as the #9 best city for hipsters. Take a little stroll through the Old Port and you are bound to see young bohemians powered by farm to table foods, wearing thrift store clothes and listening to indie music through their ear buds. Well, how about a population that has more heritage around these parts? How about the folks who were goin' up the country in the early Seventies and settled in the woods of Maine? Looks like we are more hippie than hipster in the Pine Tree State. Did we make the top ten on this list too? Absolutely! In fact, there was only one state to beat us.  The number one spot goes to another New England state. Thanks Ben and Jerry.
