Oh boy, did we get ourselves an old-fashioned Nor’easter.

While the snow did fall heavily in some areas, the bigger story was the massive wind gusts and bodacious surf that came with the storm. It was quite an epic day — thankfully, one that didn’t cause much damage.

It was also a wonderful day to stay inside and watch the snow come down sideways while the wind blew strong. However, it was not exactly fun clearing all those snowdrifts.

So, who got battered the most?

Let’s take a look at some of the snowfall totals from around Maine, courtesy of our friends at WMTW.

What Maine Towns Saw the Most Snow During the Latest Nor'easter?

Cutler, Trescott, Jonesboro - 12.0"

Congrats to Downeast Maine, which won the Nor’easter with a solid foot of the white stuff. Not surprising, considering the coast got walloped the most.

Here's the rest of the Top 5

Roque Bluffs - 11.0"
Kittery - 10.3"

Here’s how some of the cities fared in this past storm:

South Portland - 6.5"
Saco - 5.2"
Lewiston - 4.0"
Portland - 3.9"
Auburn - 2.0"

It's quite a smattering of numbers, but they were pretty much right in the predicted range for the storm. So, I would say good job to the weather prognosticators.

When Should Maine Expect More Snow?

Don't look now, but another storm is right around the bend. Expect a few more inches of powder Wednesday afternoon. Nothing too major, but it will keep the theme of a snowy winter going — which is awesome, considering how brutal winters have been over the last few years.

It’s also a blessing for the winter recreation industry. Talk about exactly what the ski mountains, Nordic centers, and snowmobile trails needed. Cheers to a wonderful winter.
