A Maine State Police trooper's cruiser was struck in a construction zone on the Piscataqua River Bridge Wednesday morning.

A video of the crash scene shows the left lane blocked, with a pickup truck parked diagonally and a second vehicle straddling the shoulder and lane.  Traffic went past the crash scene at a slower speed.

Maine State Police spokeswoman Shannon Moss told Seacoast Current the trooper was taken to a New Hampshire hospital and released. New Hampshire State Police are assisting with the investigation

A $52 million joint project between the Maine Turnpike Authority and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation is underway that will allow the breakdown lane to be used for traffic from Portsmouth to Exit 1 in Kittery.

The lanes are also being resurfaced, traffic barriers replaced, and structural and electrical elements improved.
