It seems Maine and all of North America is being shut out from seeing a very cool lunar eclipse today. This one is a doozy. It's the LONGEST (one hour and 43 minutes long...) eclipse of the 21st century. So it's got that going for it, which is nice. Plus, this lunar eclipse is a rare Blood Moon eclipse.  As the Earth, Sun and Moon all lineup, the Moon will look red as it passes through the center of the Earth's shadow. But wait, there's more! Mars is getting in on the act and during the Blood Moon eclipse, you'll see double red with Mars close to the moon. This is wicked cool! Luckily the people at the Virtual Telescope Project will allow us to see the eclipse. Things start around 2:30 pm. And the backdrop for the eclipse will be Rome.  Enjoy Mainers!
