Maine’s First Responders Got A New Airboat and It’s Wicked Awesome
Check out the cool new rig that the Maine Warden Service just procured. An Airboat! You may have seen these used in the Florida Everglades but with Maine having a zillion lakes and ponds, this will be an excellent tool to help when there is flooding or other emergencies. It will stay in Northern Maine, serving an area the size of New Jersey and Connecticut! The boat cost $83,000 and according to the Maine Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, has already been used to "help several residents of Westmanland, Maine as the rising waters of Madawaska Stream caused homeowners to become isolated in their homes. The airboat brought one woman to safety and carried supplies to other families stranded by high water."
Check out this baby in action. It's 20 feet long and is powered by a 550 horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged motor. We love the giant prop on the back. Ramp it up!
