Meet Celeste’s Weirdo Pets

This is my cat Stanley, he's kind of odd. Stanley refuses to drink from a water bowl. He will only drink out of the plastic Seadogs hat that one of my kids brought home from a game. Do you have a pet that has a peculiar or eccentric behavior?

This all started one night when Stanley was hanging out in my daughter's room and he was trying to drink from her water glass. My kid looked around for something that could serve as a water bowl and her Seadogs hat caught her eye. She filled it up with nice cold water and put it on the floor. Stan has been unwilling to drink from anything else ever since. He would cry at her door to get to his hat, we finally had to put it in the hall!

That's not his only unusual behavior, he is also extremely fond of our degus. Degus are a little animal originating from Chile that are a cross between a chinchilla and a gerbil. Ours are named Jack and Bruce Wayne.

What's most surprising about Stan hanging around with the degus is that our cat is a notorious hunter, yet he has never even come close to trying to hurt one of his friends. It's like a house rule, we can't eat each other. No matter how delicious we might be. Stan will hang out when both cage doors are wide open and he just walks back and forth brushing me with his tail. Jack loves him and comes over to say hello. They are famous for touching noses.

I have a million pictures like this. We also have a Samoyed named Vera. When our other dog Raven passed away, Vera started sleeping in the den next to the degu cage during the day.

Even though the kids don't give Jack and Bruce Wayne the attention that they deserve, I feel that Stanley and Vera are providing a rich social life to them.
