Metallica Announce 2017 North America ‘Worldwired’ Tour Dates
Metallica will head out for 25-date tour of the United States and Canada in May in support of their well-received new album Hardwired ... to Self-Destruct.
Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat and Gojira will provide support at various shows on the tour of football and baseball stadiums. You can see the full schedule below. Tickets go on sale for members of Metallica's fan club members on Feb. 14 and to the public on Feb. 17.
Every ticket purchase comes with a physical or digital copy of Hardwired ... to Self-Destruct, and fans will also have the chance to win "some pretty cool prizes" by making donations to the group's All Within My Hands foundation. All funds raised will be donated to a cross section of national, local and Bay Area charities the individual band members support, along with music education programs and food banks.
The last time Metallica played a slate this extensive was six years ago for the World Magnetic Tour. They made stops in Puerto Rico and Latin America last year.
Kirk Hammett confirmed back in December that Metallica would be making this long-awaited return to the States. "It's been a long time since we've done a proper American tour," he said. "We've done European tours, Asian tours, South American tours — relatively recently — but we have not done a proper American tour as of late, so we're very, very excited about it, and we're very excited to be able to do it playing new songs."
He promised a "special stage" for those shows, though at that point Hammett was "keeping mum" about the details other that to say "it's gonna be really cool, really fun and very Metallica."
