Only Mainers Would Wear an Outfit Like This on a Mountain in December
We’ve all seen the memes and the jokes about Mainers wearing shorts in the winter but it is so very real.
I’ve watched my brother wear shorts all winter since I was a kid but he is no exception; we could be in the middle of a blizzard in below-freezing weather and you will still see someone at the grocery store with their bare legs exposed.
Just like last year when we saw a man driving in a convertible with the top down in the middle of a snowstorm.
Mainers just don’t care.
Mainers Wear Shorts in the Winter
While you won’t catch me adorning my favorite mini skirt in the dead of winter, it does happen and it happens more often than it honestly should. But, when you’re used to seeing the winters and freezing temperatures that we see annually, you kind of just stop caring.
So, I really shouldn’t have been surprised about the outfit I recently saw at Sugarloaf Mountain.
I turned around after getting a nice cold Coors Lite from the bar to find a man standing by the door in shorts and flip-flops. FLIP-FLOPS.
I have seen the shorts, I have seen the convertible with the top down, but this was my first time seeing someone in the middle of winter with their naked toes exposed.
My absolute favorite part is that he is still wearing a puffy winter jacket for warmth. Arms? Covered. Toes? Raw.
Since it was around the holidays, there were a lot of people at the mountain from out-of-state but just by this outfit alone: Winter jacket, shorts, and flip-flops, I knew that guy just had to be a Mainer.
