If you've driven down Main Street in Westbrook, it's likely you've spotted The Daily Grind. The cleverly-named coffee house is a popular spot for locals to grab their cup of coffee away from the national chains. Prior to the pandemic, The Daily Grind always had customers inside their four walls as staff served up sandwiches, baked goods and more. During the pandemic, The Daily Grind switched gears. closing their regular shop and operating a sneaky convenient drive-thru lane that became a lifesaver for those that ordered anything and everything from the comfort of their car.

That drive-thru lane is still as popular as it has ever been, with a friendly cast of characters inside the bright orange building still serving up delicious cups of Joe. But what to do with the old coffee house that has remained closed? The Daily Grind couldn't hold the excitement inside, and unveiled on Facebook that very soon the coffee house will become an ice cream shop when it reopens. Oh, and don't worry coffee fanatics, The Daily Grind coffee drive-thru lane will remain open.

It appears the new ice cream shop will be called The Daily Scoop. The plan is to feature Gifford's ice cream on the menu. The Daily Grind promises more details including an opening date and initial menu options in the very near future. It may surprise the nearly 20,000 residents of Westbrook, but outside of Dairy Queen, there are no dedicated ice cream shops in the entire city. That will soon change, and The Daily Scoop will be a welcome addition to an area of Main Street that is growing fast with new businesses, including Blaze's Burgers relocating and Paper City Barbecue.
