Beloved Portland, Maine, Restaurant Noble BBQ & Pizzeria Is Closing
There are very few things worse than hearing that one of your favorite restaurants is closing. No matter the reason, it's always a punch to the gut. And I have to admit, this latest closure hits especially hard because Noble Pizzeria & Barbecue has been one of my go-to spots for the last few years.
What made it even tougher was that it was my mom who texted me the news.
However, this isn't about me and my sorrow. This article is about celebrating the incredible run of Noble Pizzeria & Barbecue, which shared the following announcement on social media yesterday.
Why is Noble BBQ & Pizzeria Closing?
While this is certainly sad news, I have to say it's admirable to see that the decision was driven by a desire to spend more time with family. That's a choice worthy of respect, and I wish owner Ryan Carey nothing but the best moving forward.
That said, it doesn't make this loss any easier for the community.
Noble BBQ had a Wonderful Rise to Fame
Noble's story dates back to 2017 when it first opened its doors on Forest Avenue. The barbecue specialists quickly built a loyal following thanks to their mouthwatering brisket, pulled pork, pastrami, hearty sandwiches, and irresistible scrappy fries.
What many people may not know is that Noble's roots run even deeper. Before opening their first Portland location, the team was already serving delicious pizza from a catering trailer. According to Noble's website, the pizza became so popular that they traveled throughout New England and New York, building a devoted fan base. So when they moved into their Deering Center location, it only made sense to bring their legendary barbecue and pizza together under one roof.
And what a venture it was.
Opening in 2024, Noble's Deering Center location was a masterpiece. Outstanding pizza and barbecue were complemented by perfectly cooked wings, monster sandwiches, creative cocktails, and a beautifully designed space that fit the neighborhood perfectly.

To say I loved this place would be an understatement. Heck, I even wrote an article about how it was the perfect example of a restaurant that could thrive in virtually any neighborhood in Maine.

I'll miss the incredible smoked pastrami, the salty tomato pizza, mountains of scrappy fries, perfectly cooked wings, the exceptionally friendly staff, and all the wonderful meals shared there with family and friends.
I wish nothing but the best to Carey and the entire Noble team. And thank you for all the great meals, memories, and hospitality over the years.
