The global pandemic has been absolutely financially crippling for live music venues. Especially independent venues. And especially for non-profit music venues like One Longfellow Square in Portland.  This is a great place for Portland that is run by great people. But now, this special venue now may have to close forever. If you love live music and great community centers like OLS, then they need your help right now.

If you've never been, OLS is the coolest. From their Facebook Page:

OLS presents over 200 concerts and events a year, including rock, folk, jazz, blues, Celtic, bluegrass, world, comedy, film, and more. The venue offers intimate seating for nearly 200, a superb sound system, a full bar service, and delicious treats. OLS is all ages, all the time.

Artists from all over the world come to play One Longfellow Square. Sometimes they go out of their way to come here. Sometimes it's the kind of artist or band that would NEVER play a venue this small. It's the kind of place where you might have a youth band from the Maine Academy of Modern Music play on a Tuesday and someone like Denny Laine from Wings play on a Wednesday.  OLS is a real musical jewel for Maine and now it may have to close.  But here come Maine Music Lovers to the rescue!

OLS has started a GoFundMe page to raise $100,000 so they can stay afloat until live music comes back, hopefully in 2021. Rent and utilities alone are $7,000 a month. The good news? As of this writing, the fund has raised almost $60,000. Thanks to everyone who has given and please help spread the word! SAVE OLS!
