I’m talking about a place just minutes from Maine’s largest city, known for its stunning coastline and impressive growth over the past three decades.

Welcome to Scarborough, a town that seems to add a new restaurant every 20 minutes. And for good reason, I'm pretty sure that since I started writing this, another 1,000 people have moved there.

Scarborough is essentially made up of two distinct regions: the beach and Route 1. While both are quite different, they share one major connection—delicious restaurants. In fact, great dining spots are spread throughout the town, offering a wide variety of cuisines to choose from.

Scarborough is even lucky enough to have some places that have been around for generations, truly iconic joints that locals have enjoyed their entire lives. And many of them proudly feature Maine’s most cherished export: lobster.

It makes perfect sense that lobster is so prominently featured on local menus—Scarborough is a coastal town, after all. How could these eateries not take advantage of the fresh bounty?
