Legendary Seafood Restaurant Ken’s Place in Scarborough, Maine, Reveals Opening Date for the Season
Tis the season for longer days and improving weather.
Spring is slowly arriving here in Maine, which means things are looking up. The days are getting warmer, making it much more tolerable to enjoy our fine state.
Maine's Seasonal Businesses Have Started to Open for the Year
Bears aren’t the only ones that hibernate around here. There’s a whole industry of seasonal businesses gearing up for the 2025 year.
Many of these joints have started posting online about opening dates, including one iconic restaurant in Scarborough that attracts both Mainers and tourists by what feels like the hundreds. I'm talking about the legendary Ken's Place seafood restaurant, which can be found on the way to Pine Point Beach.
Ken's Place in Scarborough has Been a Maine Institution for Nearly 100 Years
Originally opening in 1927, Ken's Place is a staple around these parts. It's approaching 100 years of serving the community with delicious seafood and other classics. That is simply incredible.
Diners can enjoy different preparations of lobster, shrimp, scallops, clams, and many other favorites. And it's always fresh, considering the source of most of it is just a few miles down the road.
Ken's has also become (or maybe always has been) a generational restaurant. Parents would bring their kids, who would then bring their kids, and so on. It has such familial appeal, and all of the credit goes to the staff, who have always made it so welcoming and have cooked up some delish food.
Ken's Place Has Announced its Opening Date for the 2025 Season
I guess the one negative thing you can say about Ken's is that it's not always open. However, we are quickly getting closer to it opening back up, and now we can say we have a date.
When I said opening soon, I wasn't kidding. It's literally at the end of this week, on Friday, March 21. If this isn't a sign of spring, I don't know what is.

I guess it's time to head towards the beach because all is right in the world again. I also love that they mention that the doors open at 11 a.m. They make it sound like a concert, which, let's be honest, it kind of is. It certainly will be a monumental day.
I wish the very best to the staff over at Ken's. Here's hoping for another successful season. Though, I don't think they have to worry. I mean, you're not around for nearly 100 years for nothing.
