Anyone who has encountered the traffic on Interstate 95 in the height of tourism season in Maine knows there are plenty of people piling into the state all summer long. Maine is nicknamed Vacationland for a reason, it's got a lot to see and a lot to enjoy.

So when you begin narrowing down the choices on what might be Maine's very best tourist attraction, there's probably a few ideas in your mind. Acadia National Park? That would seem to be the most obvious choice. Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens? Moosehead Lake?Sunday River or Sugarloaf? Funtown/Splashtown? Peaks Island? Sebago Lake? All of those would be great guesses and choices but according to Travel A Lot, they're all dead wrong.

Travel A Lot has named Commercial Street in Portland's Old Port and the best tourist attraction in the entire state of Maine. Travel A Lot states that Commercial Street is home to several fresh seafood markets, tourist shops and artisan bakeries that separates it from other downtowns in Maine.

It's more than just the stuff you can buy. Travel A Lot highlights access to several walking trails and parks along Commercial Street. While most native Mainers don't think of it, Commercial Street is the hub for several walking trails as well as Bell Buoy Park.

Travel A Lot also mentions the clubs on Commercial Street as a draw. Perhaps it's a mix-up with terminology. There's still a lot of terrific nightlife options along the street including RiRa, The Porthole and Three Dollar Dewey's but nobody would confuse them with clubs.

Cancel your trip to the mountains and skip those immaculate beaches, there's only one place in Maine you should be visiting right now and that's Commercial Street.
