
Spooky Maine Ghost Stories: The Witch of York & The Drowned Ghost Town of Flagstaff Lake
Mainers love a great ghost story! For all you Halloween freaks out there... here are a couple great Maine horror legends to tide you over until we can get into the spirit for real this fall.
First up, a story that's new to me... the legend of the Drowned Ghost Town of Flagstaff Lake. Katie Bavoso from NewsCenterMaine dove into this story a few years ago:
And for a more familiar story... the legend of the Witch of York. Mary Nasson was said to have a stone slab laid over her grave to stop her from rising from the dead after she was hung for witchcraft.
