The old K-Mart on Center Street is getting an upgrade to a Target!

According to the Sun Journal it's a good day for Auburn. The old K-Mart, that's been closed for just over a year, will beome a Target. There isn't a date, but it is confirmed that it WILL be a Target. The property owners had been working with U-Haul to possibly take over the lease which runs out in July. This is one of 43 other Targets opening next year across the country.

All that we know is that Target will open at 603 Center Street in Auburn and they were picked after looking at a few factors. They decided that Auburn would be a great place for a Target. Of course it would be. It's going to be a 105,000 square foot Target extravaganza. They will have more details closer to the opening about exactly what they will offer.

K-Mart held that address for almost 40 years, but just couldn't hold on. It's not because of the pandemic, it's because of the times. This will be the 6th location for Target, the others being in Augusta, Topsham, South Portland, Biddeford and Bangor.
