Today's weather in Maine wasn't exactly as nice as we had two weeks ago when temperatures hit a record high in the 80s. 30s and 40s was the story today and that meant a cold rain for most of the state, but a decent amount of snowfall for parts of Aroostook County.

Maine State Police Troop F shared this photo of the snow covered roads in Houlton this morning where one car ran off the road. They advised motorists to slow down in the snow since we tend to forget how to drive in it for the first snow of the season.

Lots of photos of Maine's first snowfall were posted from Houlton on Instagram.

A winter storm warning is in effect in for Northern Penobscot, Northern Piscataquis and  Southeast Aroostook counties until 2 a.m. Thursday.

With temps hovering at freezing, that made the snow able to stick.

The first snowfall is pretty, but this is just the beginning. It isn't even Halloween yet.
