The Portland Old Port ‘Best Of’ 2022 Awards Enters Final Voting Stage
If you take a stroll through Portland's Old Port, you'll notice several businesses featuring stickers and plaques declaring them the 'Best Of' in a given category. For years in Portland, the 'Best Of' awards were dished out by the Portland Phoenix before the weekly paper folded operations. In recent years, that responsibility has been taken on by Portland Old Port with the additional of several new and fresh categories to the mix. The 2022 awards season is upon us and Portland Old Port has entered the final stage of voting.
The nomination period started in June and allowed anyone and everyone to nominate their favorite individuals and businesses in more than 130 different categories. After the nominations were set, a first round of voting took place from July 1st to July 14th. Only the nominated individuals and businesses with the highest vote totals will moved onto the final round of voting. That final round kicked off July 15th and runs through July 31st. The categories range wide to include restaurants, speciality businesses, activities and even your favorite local media personalities. No pressure to vote for the person who wrote this article.
After the final votes are tabulated, Portland Old Port plans to host a 'Best Of' awards party at the Portland House of Music and Events on Tuesday, August 2nd from 5 to 7pm. The party will feature announcements of winners along with food provided by OTTO Pizza, The Portland Board and Eighty 8 Donuts. The party will be open to those who would just like to attend, whether nominated or not, with tickets available through the PHome website.
