If you haven't been keeping up with the latest Quarterback rumors concerning The New England Patriots, they've been happening so fast that it's tough to keep track of them.

Will it be Jimmy G?

When we all went to bed last night, New England Patriots fans were almost convinced that by dawn's early light, Jimmy Garoppolo would finally be back in New England.

Alas, here we are a half day later and nothing has changed.

Why?

Because The New England Patriots want it that way.

The Pats love the art of confusion and misdirection. They have operated this way over the past 20 years and it's unlikely that they'll change their ways anytime soon.

Only the past 4 days, different media sources have been feeding the sports world three new and completely plausible scenarios of future New England quarterbacks.

Earlier in the week, we we're informed that Florida Gator Quarterback Kyle Trask was highly sought after by The Pats and he was sure to be selected early.

Tuesday's rumors surrounding Ohio State QB Justin Fields reached a crescendo yesterday, even including stories of his upbringing on Cape Cod.

Then, once the evening closed in, the Jimmy G rumor mill was thrown into fifth gear.

In my humble opinion, this entire symphony of fake outs and 'anonymous source' rumors are all orchestrated from Gillette Stadium.

If you throw out enough red herrings, you'll never look desperate when it's time to get down to the real business of deal making.

Thankfully, the big mystery will be solved tonight, sometime after 8PM.

And if history tells us anything, it won't resemble any rumor generated in the last 72 hours.
