The Yard In Portland Is Adding A Glorious New Rooftop Deck

As the call for outdoor dining grows louder, several businesses in Portland are finding themselves in a bit of a jam. What do you do when you've maxed out all the useable space around you? The answer seems to be to look up. Rooftop decks and bars are quickly becoming a thing in Portland with another popular restaurant/bar set to add one in the near future.

Shared on Facebook by The Yard, they've officially had their plans for a rooftop deck approved by the City of Portland this week. As you can see in the artist rendering, The Yard plans to have vast seating on the rooftop deck, with some open-air fire pits and likely other surprises as plans get fleshed out further. When it opens, it'll become the second rooftop deck in the fast-moving neighborhood, joining Bayside Bowl and their super popular penthouse-style deck nearby.

So when will it open? That can get complicated. Even the best laid construction plans can run into snags and delays but judging by The Yard closed their Facebook post with "Cheers to summer nights up high", it sounds as though The Yard is hopeful to have their rooftop deck open by some point this summer. If it does open this summer, it'll join another new rooftop deck along Commercial Street called Luna, which will be part of the new Canopy Hotel set to open in the Old Port.
