I'm just going to come right out of the gates and say this, Maine is literally called "Vacation Land." It's IN the title.

Ranking Maine anywhere but in the top 10 on a list of summer vacation spots is just incorrect.

Oh, if you were wondering, the site gambling.com ranked Maine at a ridiculous 42 out of 50 for best states to summer vacation. That's practically last place.

I could go on for hours giving you details about my life that you didn't ask for to back this up, but I'll spare you that and give you the top 3 reasons why Maine should be ranked way higher on this bs list.

1. Maine Is A Foodie State
More specifically Portland, "downtown" where all the action happens, otherwise known as the Old Port is the home to, in my opinion, one of the BEST seafood restaurants on this side of the country. Scales.

According to Trip Advisor, Scales ranks #2 on the list of the 10 best seafood restaurants in Portland, and it's literally floating over the ocean.

If you ever get the chance, PLEASE do your mouth a favor and try their pan-seared sea scallops, they NEVER miss.

2. Dog Friendly
If you're like me, my fur baby goes everywhere with me, even on vacation when permitted. I think a lot of people decide to go one place over the other because of dog accommodations.

Almost every storefront in Portland has a sign outside that tells you to bring your good boy or girl in.

^ Please ignore my red-hair era.

3. Beaches & Oceanfront Restaurants
It's like you get an all-in-one vacation. A little something for everyone in the fam. Downtown Portland gives you that city feel for the day because of the little unique gift shops around town.

OR if one day you're more in the mood to park your bum in the sand all day, there are numerous public beaches that are beautiful to spend the entire day on all throughout Maine.

If you choose the beach route, I've got a go-to favorite for you;
Ferry Beach in Saco, Maine.

Fun fact: you'll find Ferry Beach State Park as #4 on the 10 Best Beaches In Maine list according to vacationidea, so you know it's real!

Let's just ignore the gambling.com list because we all know Maine should be No. 1. Right?
