This Maine Restaurant’s Website Will Bring You Back to the 90’s
After seeing that chef Vien Dobui of Portland's CÔNG TỬ BỘT is a semifinalist in the Best Chef: Northeast category for The 2019 James Beard Awards, I wanted to look up this clearly well-respected, popular, critically acclaimed eatery. I expected to find a posh, sleek website with photos an Instagram foodie would covet.
What I got was a TOTALLY RAD HTML driven site that looks like it was straight from the 1990s.
The site features animated dancing tomatoes, notes that they're open "EVVVERYDAY", and makes it known that they do not take reservations while also paying respects to the late Anthony Bourdain. Oh, and racists? Stay home.
You can see the retro website here.
Don't ever change, CÔNG TỬ BỘT! Because of your site, I have now made it a mission to visit your establishment despite the fact that I have never tried Phở.
By the way, CÔNG TỬ BỘT translates to DUDE in English. HA!
