4/19/1974 (45 years ago today) - Tickets cost $4.50 and $5.50 in advance: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band appear at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey -- The promoter gambled that word-of-mouth would be enough to fill the venue, so he did no advertising at all -- Only 250 fans showed up, leaving an additional 275 seats empty by showtime...

4/19/1980 (39 years ago today) - Blondie hit No. 1 on the singles chart with "Call Me", which was featured in the opening credits of the really-dreary-attempt-at-'art'-but-it-was-just-a-bad-B-movie "American Gigolo", starring Richard Gere who clearly still needed acting lessons at this point. The old Mystery Science Theater gang would have had a field day with this one...

4/19/1980 (39 years ago today) - Brian Johnson joined AC/DC, replacing original lead vocalist/front man Bon Scott -- Brian was 32 years old at the time, and had cut his chops with hard-working-but-unsuccessful-bands like Fresh, The Gobi Desert Canoe Club {yes, their actual name!} and in the early '70's performed songs from the musical "Hair" with cabaret/club outfit The Jasper Hart Band -- First order of new business is the forthcoming "Back In Black" album...
