4/01/1972 (47 years ago today) - The three-day Mar-Y-Sol Festival in Puerto Rico is underway: performers include Rod Stewart, The Allman Brothers Band, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Alice Cooper, The J. Geils Band, The Mahavishnu Orchestra and Dr. John. Security was simple, laid-back and nearly non-existent: the event took place on an island that was accessible by ticket only.
