8/2/1968 (49 years ago today) - After the searing psychedelia of their first two albums, this new single was deemed "too commercial" by many loyal fans: The Doors start two weeks at No. 1 with "Hello, I Love You" -- It's their second chart-topping 45, and the band will go on to have eight Top 40 hits between 1967-'71, not too shabby for one of rock's most far-out and unpredictable outfits...

Andy's also earned a well deserved reputation as one of rock's most reliable go-to guys, having made records and/or toured with {deep breath now} Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Roger Waters, George Harrison, Elton John, Pete Townshend, Jackson Browne, Bill Wyman, Sheryl Crow, David Crosby, Edie Brickell, Tom Jones, Brian Wilson, Ringo Starr and even Jimi Hendrix! So this Andy-what's-his-name is rather quite alright, then...
