An album that was impossible to ignore (you can decide if that's good or bad thing) --  Two great American rock and roll songwriters get a well-deserved salute...

5/6/1978 (41 years ago today) - The soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever" is No. 1 in both the U.S. and England and The Bee Gees' lush productions effectively turn the industry inside-out: "Stayin' Alive", "How Deep Is Your Love", "Night Fever", "More Than A Woman", "You Should Be Dancing" -- On your radio (and, well, truth be told it's just about everywhere) it's as if nothing else exists for a mind-numbing three months straight...at least! 30 million copies are sold world-wide in record time. Mega, then.

5/6/2002 (17 years ago today) - He wrote "All Shook Up", "Return To Sender", "Don't Be Cruel", "Great Balls Of Fire", "Handyman" and "Fever": let's give it up for keyboardist-producer Otis Blackwell -- There's a rough estimate out there reminding us that Blackwell's songs have sold more than 185 million copies over the years! The truly legendary songwriter passed away from a heart attack on this date at his home in Nashville at age 71. Great stuff, Otis, and thank you...

5/6/1945 - Happy Birthday Robert Clark "Bob" Seger, 74 years old today -- Started out in the 1960's as a local fave in Detroit where he performed and recorded as Bob Seger And The Last Heard and The Bob Seger System, but in 1976 he really hit the big time with The Silver Bullet Band and the epic landmark concert double-set "Live Bullet" -- Whammo!!! For the next ten years, Bob was unstoppable with a classic run of full-length studio albums: "Night Moves" (1976), "Stranger In Town" (1978), "Against The Wind" (1980), "The Distance" (1982), and "Like A Rock" (1986). All of it, pretty reliable and solid stuff...
