Wrapping up work on one of the Sixties greatest albums -- Guess who's drunk and disorderly again -- Another rocker gone too soon -- You can always learn something for trivia night here, so please dive right in to your Nov. 11th Coffee Break Calendar...

11/11/1965 (55 years ago today) - Working at Abbey Road studios, London, it turns out The Beatles need three more songs to finish up the "Rubber Soul" album, so here's what they do: an old one ("Wait") is pulled off the shelf, then they proceed to record two new songs start to finish -- Both Paul's "You Won't See Me" and John's "Girl" are done in two takes. Two takes!!! "Rubber Soul" is now complete, and the album is in stores just a few weeks later (December 3rd in the U.K.; December 6th in the U.S.). The boys worked fast, indeed.

11/11/1969 (51 years ago today) - When the airplane lands in Phoenix, Arizona, the FBI are waiting: Jim Morrison and his friend, actor Tom Baker, were on their way to a Rolling Stones concert when law enforcement was tipped off about their behavior on the flight -- The two "celebs" had been drinking heavily, accosting the stewardesses, and generally annoying everyone one else on board. Jim and pal are arrested and spend the night in jail, then released the next morning after management posts the $2,500 bail -- From here on out, various agencies are "on the hunt" to nail Jim and put him in his place...

11/11/1972 (48 years ago today) - Cue the "Twilight Zone" music; this story's not only tragic, but flat-out weird: Allman Brothers bass player Berry Oakley is killed when his motorcycle crashes into a bus at the same intersection where Duane Allman had died in a similar fashion one year earlier. Oakley was only 24 years old.
